Lurcher
SOS is a Surrey based Lurcher and Greyhound
Rescue, primarily covering Southern
England. We have a network of supporters, fundraisers and fosterers in Kent, Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, Hertfordshire and all of the South of England, but we have homed our dogs throughout England and Wales.
As well as being a Lurcher and Greyhound Rescue, we also rescue Whippets and other
Sighthounds. We are all volunteers and our mission is to rescue,
rehabilitate and home abused,
abandoned and
neglected Lurchers and Greyhounds and other Sighthounds from both the UK and Ireland. And we are now proud to be able to help Spanish Greyhounds too!
Lurcher SOS takes in Lurchers and Greyhounds of all ages, from puppies to oldies. These dogs come to us for various reasons, some are strays, some have been ill treated and some need to find a new home because their owners no longer want them. Some of these dogs are so emotionally and physically scarred that they will need long periods in foster homes, learning to trust humans again. We will also try to help other sighthounds and other sighthound rescues wherever possible.
All our dogs are placed in warm and loving foster homes
where they
are carefully assessed and, if needed, rehabilitated. Some of the dogs taken directly from pounds
are kept in isolation in private boarding kennels elsewhere for 14 days
first to make sure they are not incubating any illnesses. All Lurcher SOS rescue dogs are neutered
where possible and given full veterinary
treatment, microchipped and vaccinated wormed and deflead before going
to their new homes.
We are a non-profit organization and receive no funding. We rely solely on donations from the public and are desperately in need of fundraising support to cover the cost of the care of our dogs. We are actively seeking new foster parents and permanent homes for our rescue dogs. For more information on how you can get involved please click here.
