Cooking for your pet is a good way of encouraging children to get more involved in their pets wellbeing. Many commercial biscuits contain colourings, flavour enhancers and other preservatives that may not be good for your dogs. Many dogs are now also suffering allergies, in the same way as people; and many commercial treats simply are not suited to them.
Many of the recipes in A La Bark Baking are very quick and easy to make, and will freeze until you need them.
The book has wheat free, meat free, low calorie and low protein recipes to suit most dogs. Some fun recipes for birthday and special occasion cakes are included, but even these are still healthy options.

The Orchard Greyhound Sanctuary
The Orchard Greyhound Sanctuary is a small privately run refuge for rescued and retired greyhounds. Located in southwest County Offaly, here they learn their names and household manners, get housebroken and socialised, and in general run free on almost 3 enclosed acres. Prospective owners are invited to come and visit and stay to get to know the dogs. Great care is given to try to match up the right dog with the right home. One of my own dogs, Susie, came from Orchard and I can vouch for their care and devotion to the dogs in their care.

Greyhound and Lurcher Welfare and Rescue was set up following the closure of the Glastonbury race track. We were concerned that greyhounds, seen by trainers as no longer "useful", might be put to sleep, and we wanted to offer a real alternative for these elegant sighthounds.
