Financial Donations

  Lurcher SOS is a small rescue and we are supported entirely by our volunteers and donations. Donations are always needed and very gratefully received no matter how large or small.  It all makes a difference and helps us to continue to help the many Lurchers, Greyhounds and sighthounds in need. You can donate through the PayPal button on our Home Page.  Or you can use Internet Banking.  Please contact us for our banking details if you wish to donate in this way.

  Fostering

  Fostering is a a very important role. Together with fundraising, it forms the backbone of the rescue. If you feel you would like to be directly involved in helping a hound, do consider fostering. Lurcher SOS Rescue is currently looking for kind, reliable fosterers to care for the hounds we rescue. Fostering involves caring for a dog in your own home until a permanent home is found. 

We rely on our foster carers to prepare our dogs for life as a loved family pet. Many of these dogs have never been loved, had a warm bed to sleep on or a toy to play with. They often need time and patience to finally relax and enjoy the kind of life that every hound should have, and seeing them blossom is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world.

 During their time in foster care all dogs, if not previously done, will be wormed, microchipped, neutered (if this is not already done) and vaccinated. Lurcher SOS will cover the cost of all of this and any vet bills incurred whilst in your care. We cannot guarantee any of our dogs will be housetrained when they arrive with you as many will have never lived in a home, and some of them will have had little or no human contact or love. But be assured that, during your time as a foster carer, we are always available to give you advice and support and answer any questions you may have.

Foster applications will be subject to a home check.  All fosterers must have fully secure gardens and the fence height must be 6 feet or over.


Fundraise

You can help us to raise funds by taking part in an event such as an auction on our friendly forum, holding a boot fair, coffee morning or sponsored event or even by making collars, coats etc.

 

Home Check

Help us approve potential homes for our Lurchers. No experience is necessary as advice and support will be given.

Transport

Help by transporting our dogs into rescue with us or to their foster homes.

Donation of Goods 

We always need donations of towels, collars, and coats as well as goods for raffles and auctions. So if you have any unwanted items why not contact us.

 eBay

We often have articles for sale on eBay.  All sale proceeds go to help the Lurchers, Greyhounds and other sighthounds in our care.
