Brandy (no more applications)

Brandy has settled into her foster home beautifully and is proving to be an exceptionally gentle, loving and people-focused girl. From the moment she arrived she was inquisitive and affectionate, happily making eye contact and coming over for a stroke. Now she loves nothing more than being close to her humans, following them from room to room to see what they are up to before curling up on the sofa or a cosy dog bed for a snooze.

She is extremely affectionate and soft-natured, always keen for a cuddle or a gentle fuss. Brandy also has a playful side and especially enjoys a game of fetch, both in the house and out on walks. She loves carrying soft toys around, although woolly hats and children’s teddies may also be claimed if left within reach! She doesn’t destroy them, they just tend to get a bit soggy…

In the home Brandy is calm, clean and easy to live with. She is fully house trained and shows no guarding behaviour around food, toys, beds or people. She settles well and has been left for up to four hours with another dog without any issues. She may whine a little if left in a room on her own while you are at home, simply because she prefers to be where the people are! She does not rely on another dog for confidence and would be just as happy as an only hound or living with others.

Brandy is a dream on walks. She walks beautifully on a loose lead by your side and is calm and confident in public places and around traffic. She is friendly and polite with people and dogs of all sizes, either ignoring them or gently going over to say hello. She enjoys a little play with other dogs but is equally content to just do her own thing.

Out in the woods she really comes to life, sniffing, exploring and keeping an eye out for squirrels and deer, as she does have a high prey drive. A secure lead and sensible management will be needed in wildlife-rich areas.

Brandy travels in the car but currently needs lifting into the boot, which should improve with a little training and tasty treats. She is not yet responsive to her name or commands, but she is very food motivated, especially for anything fishy, and keen to please, so this will come with time and consistency.

Brandy is 3½ years old, stands 25 inches at the shoulder and weighs 26kg. She is in foster in East Sussex and is ready to find her forever home.

She will make a wonderfully loyal, loving companion for someone looking for a gentle, affectionate hound who enjoys both countryside adventures and sofa snuggles.
