Feliza
Beautiful Feliza is the wonderful mum to the seven puppies who recently arrived with Lurcher SOS from Cyprus. After giving her puppies the very best start in life, it is finally her turn to find the loving forever home she so deserves.
Feliza is approximately 18 months old and is a stunning sighthound with the most incredible ears that really do deserve their own fan club! She was found abandoned in the Cypriot countryside with her seven puppies, who were just two weeks old. After being safely trapped, she devotedly raised her litter in the shelter before making the journey to the UK, where she arrived fully vaccinated and health tested.
Her foster mum believes Feliza is predominantly Greyhound with perhaps a touch of Saluki, and says she has blossomed into a truly wonderful companion.
Like many dogs who have never lived in a home, Feliza needed a few days to adjust to life indoors. She was initially unsure about walking on a lead and getting in and out of vehicles, but she has taken everything in her stride and has made fantastic progress. She is now a much-loved member of her foster family's pack, travelling happily both in a crate in the van and on the back seat of the car.
Feliza is clean in the house, having had very few toileting accidents, and has lovely manners around other dogs in the home. She can be a little boisterous during group walks, which is simply youthful enthusiasm, but she remains respectful with the other dogs. She shows no signs of resource guarding and greets her foster family each morning with a wagging tail after happily sleeping downstairs on her own throughout the night.
In the evenings, Feliza is wonderfully relaxed and loves nothing more than stretching out on the sofa, often upside down in true sighthound style. She is affectionate, carefree and easy-going, and has quickly become a firm favourite with everyone she meets.
As you would expect from a dog who spent the early part of her life as a stray, there are still a few things she finds unfamiliar. Busy roads, traffic, pushchairs and joggers can make her a little uncertain, but she is growing in confidence every day. For this reason, we are looking for a home with at least one friendly resident dog who can continue to help guide and reassure her.
Feliza may bark occasionally if she hears unfamiliar noises around the home or if some of the resident dogs leave the house, although she is never left completely on her own.
She does have a high prey drive and will always investigate rustling in the bushes, so she will need a home that understands sighthounds and their instincts. She is not cat friendly.
Despite everything she has been through, Feliza has remained a joyful, goofy and utterly adorable young dog. She has embraced the enormous changes in her life with remarkable resilience and is now ready for the next chapter.
She was let down at the start of her life, lovingly raised a large litter of puppies, and now it is finally her time. Whoever is lucky enough to welcome Feliza into their family will gain a truly special companion.
Feliza is currently in foster in Gloucestershire.
Please note: Due to the significant costs involved in bringing Feliza and her puppies safely to the UK, there is a minimum adoption donation of £725 for Feliza and her puppies.
