Feliza

Beautiful Feliza is the mommy of all the beautiful puppies that have come to Lurcher SOS. Her foster mom singes her praises!!…..

“Feliza is approximately 18 month old stunning Sighthound with ears that deserve their own show. She was successfully trapped in Cyprus having been found in the countryside, dumped with seven puppies that were only two weeks old. She then went onto raise them successfully in the pound.

Thanks to so many people she found her way to the UK (fully vaccinated and health tested) and said goodbye to her puppies after four months.

By her attitude to life, I would suggest that she is mostly Greyhound, with a snippet of Saluki in there.

When she arrived she took a few days to adjust to home life inside a house in the UK, but now she is absolutely loving it!

She struggled to walk on a lead initially, and get in and out of vehicles, all to be expected from a stray dog. However, she has fully blossomed into a part of our pack, and follows the lead of our dogs. She travels beautifully in the Van inside a crate, and has also travelled on the backseat of a car with no fuss.

She has barely had an accident in the house (toileting), is ever so polite with other dogs inside the house (she can be rambunctious due to her age with other dogs out in a group walk but is respectful).

No signs of any resource guarding, and greets us with a very waggy tail in the mornings having slept downstairs all on her own without any fuss. In the evening she just likes to sleep, often roaching on the sofa. She is incredibly carefree and easy-going and gets on with everyone she meets.

She can still be a little wary in certain environments, e.g. near to roads/traffic, prams/pushchairs, joggers, but these are all things that she would not have encountered up close in her previous life in Cyprus. She is certainly taking it all in her stride, but I would suggest that she needs at least one other dog as a companion to continue to help guide her.

She can bark a little at home if she hears noises she’s unsure of, or when some of our pack leave the house (she is never left on her own).

I would say that she does have a high prey drive as any rustling in bushes gets her interest. But otherwise she tends to stick with the pack (I walk her in enclosed fields).

She’s goofy and adorable, and has coped so well with a massive change in her life. She’s still only young, and whoever takes her on will be very lucky ❤️

She was let down early in life, raised a big litter and now it’s her time!
