Tiernan
Tiernan is a handsome four-year-old boy who recently arrived in our care from Ireland. Since settling into his foster home in East Sussex, he has quickly won everyone over with his gentle nature and affectionate personality. His foster family affectionately call him Monty, and it is easy to see why they have fallen so completely for him.
From the moment Tiernan arrived, his tail has barely stopped wagging. He simply wants to be loved and is happiest when he is close to his people. He enjoys being part of the family and likes to know where everyone is, although he has been encouraged to build his independence and settles well in his crate when needed. He may give a little whine if someone leaves the room, but he quickly relaxes again.
Tiernan has lovely manners and is an absolute pleasure to walk. He doesn't pull on the lead and has been easy to manage, even when something catches his eye that he would quite like to chase. He has also travelled beautifully in the car, is completely clean in the house and responds well to his name.
He is incredibly affectionate and enjoys nothing more than morning cuddles, often abandoning his breakfast to race upstairs for a snuggle on the bed. He has greeted almost everyone he has met with confidence, although one gentleman did make him feel a little uneasy, suggesting he may have had an unpleasant experience in his past. With gentle reassurance, he continues to grow in confidence every day.
Like many dogs, Tiernan has a healthy appetite and initially believed that every bit of food, and even drinks, belonged to him. He has responded brilliantly to clear boundaries and is learning quickly.
His foster family think he would make the perfect companion for someone who works from home, as he settles quietly while they work and is content simply being close to his people.
One of Tiernan's more unusual talents is his enthusiasm for catching flies. His foster family joke that he's like a Venus flytrap, although they have already had to rescue a bee from his mouth, so he'll certainly need to learn that not every buzzing insect is worth chasing!
While Tiernan is always polite when meeting other dogs, he doesn't seem particularly interested in playing with them. He appears to be thoroughly enjoying having all the attention to himself, so we feel he would be happiest as the only dog in his forever home.
Tiernan stands at approximately 24 inches to the shoulder and weighs around 20kg. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to find the loving home he has been waiting for.
Tiernan is currently in foster in East Sussex and is looking for a family who will give him the love, security and companionship he deserves. In return, they'll gain an affectionate, easy-going and truly special dog who will make a wonderful addition to the right home.
