Pepper

Pepper is a confident, curious and utterly lovable hound with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Weighing around 27kg, she is a playful, affectionate girl who adores being close to her people and getting fully involved in family life.

From the moment she arrived in foster, Pepper settled in quickly, showing herself to be friendly, bold and keen to explore. She is incredibly people focused and would happily spend her days snoozing nearby, following you from room to room, or curling up as close as she can for a cuddle.

Pepper has a wonderfully playful side and absolutely loves toys, especially anything squeaky. She enjoys a good run around to burn off energy and then is more than happy to relax for most of the day. She is the perfect mix of lazy lounger and joyful whirlwind, with about 90 percent calm and 10 percent pure chaos in the most endearing way.

She is friendly with visitors and loves meeting people out on walks. Other dogs fascinate her and she is extremely keen to say hello and initiate play, sometimes with a little too much enthusiasm. Pepper would really enjoy living with another energetic dog who can match her playful style and help her channel that excitement appropriately. She also loves cuddling up with other dogs to sleep and has no concept of personal space, which just adds to her charm.

Pepper is still learning her house manners. She is generally clean indoors, although she is not always great at telling you when she needs to go out yet. With a consistent routine and someone keeping an eye on her signals, this should continue to improve. She is also a known counter surfer, so a tidy kitchen and some training will go a long way.

When left alone, Pepper can be a little vocal at first and may dig her bed, but she does settle once she realises her people are coming back. She currently does best being left for short periods of up to two hours and benefits from having a safe space like a crate. She would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time or happy to build up alone time gradually.

On the lead, Pepper is enthusiastic and keen to get where she is going, especially if there are dogs nearby. She walks much more nicely in a harness or gentle leader and is already improving with consistent handling. She knows her name and basic commands like sit and wait and is very food motivated, which makes her a great candidate for further training.

Pepper travels well in the car, is gaining confidence in busier environments, and takes new experiences in her stride. She has a high prey drive, so she will need sensible management and secure spaces, but she is a bright, eager girl who wants to engage with the world.

Pepper is looking for an active, patient home that will embrace her playful spirit, continue her training and enjoy having a loving, slightly cheeky hound as part of the family. In return, she will offer endless affection, entertainment and loyalty.

If you are looking for a fun, cuddly companion with lots of personality and potential, Pepper could be your perfect match. 💛
