Evita is just two years old. A young Greyhound who came heartbreakingly close to losing her life in a kill pound in Cyprus, saved only days before her time ran out.

When she was first collected, the extent of her suffering was clear. She was emaciated, her body weak from neglect. Her tail was bleeding, a painful sign of the stress and conditions she had endured. Most striking of all was her spirit. She was completely shut down, with no energy, no curiosity, and no sparkle in her eyes.

Dogs in these situations often lose trust. Many never fully recover from that level of trauma.

But Evita chose a different path.

With care, patience and kindness, she began her journey back, not just physically, but emotionally too. Slowly, her strength returned. Then her confidence. And finally, her joy.

Today, Evita is full of life. She is active, energetic and endlessly affectionate. Her tail rarely stops wagging. She greets people as though they are old friends, with a gentle, open-hearted nature that makes it impossible not to fall in love with her. Whether she is out on a walk, running freely in a secure space, or simply enjoying the company of people, Evita embraces every moment.

She is ready for the life she was always meant to have.

And now, that life is within reach.

Evita has been offered a foster home here in the UK under the care of Lurcher SOS, where she will be safe, loved and given the chance to truly thrive. It is the fresh start she deserves, and the opportunity to leave her past behind for good.

However, we need your help to make this happen.

We must raise £750 by 15th April to cover the cost of Evita’s flight to the UK, along with essential veterinary care to ensure she arrives healthy and ready for her new beginning.
